DHL Lays off workers at their 18 USA distribution hubs

The current economic downturn is beginning to affect large multinational forwarders and the 10th of November saw DHL withdraw from the domestic express business in the USA.

DHL announced the closure of all 18 main distribution hubs, cutting approximately 12,000 jobs. Within the last 5 years DHL has lost $10 billion in the USA (Source Business Week November 10, 2008).
